What
is College Tech Prep?
College
Tech Prep is a college bound educational opportunity that
combines advanced training in today and tomorrows
technologies, and the academic foundation students need
to succeed in college.
It begins in the 11th grade and continues through an associate
or bachelors degree.
College Tech Prep is a two-year college preparatory program.
Students
get the same core academic courses (communications, math,
and science) that a traditional college prep curriculum
would offer.
College
Tech Prep emphasizes project-based learning, teamwork, critical
thinking, and problem solving in an applied learning environment.
High
school juniors and seniors take specialized technical coursework
at central sites in Mahoning
County, along with college prep academic classes at their
home school.
College
Tech Prep courses are half day.
Students take their college prep courses at their home school,
where they can participate in sports, clubs, and other extra-curricular
activities.
They earn their diploma and graduate from their home school.
Students must meet the graduation requirements of home schools.
