WHAT IS COLLEGE TECH PREP?

  • College Tech Prep is the educational initiative of the future – and it’s here today.
  • In College Tech Prep students get real world work experience, career exploration, advanced technical training in today’s newest technologies and the academic foundation they need to succeed in college.
  • It begins in the 11th grade and continues through an associate or bachelor’s degree

College Tech Prep is a two-year college preparatory program and not vocational education.
  • In addition to the College Tech Prep technical curriculum, academic courses in communications, math, and science are emphasized.
  • College Tech Prep incorporates project-based learning, teamwork, critical thinking, and problem solving in an applied learning environment.

College Tech Prep is a two-year college preparatory program and not vocational education. You get the same core academic courses (English, math, and science) that a traditional college prep curriculum would offer. College Tech Prep emphasizes project-based learning, teamwork, critical thinking, and problem solving in an applied learning environment.

High school juniors and seniors take specialized technical coursework at central sites in Mahoning County, along with college prep academic classes at their home school.

College Tech Prep courses are half day. You take your college prep courses at your home school, where you can participate in sports, clubs, and other extra-curricular activities. You earn your diploma and graduate from your home school. You must meet the graduation requirements of your home school.
